DENVER, U.S.: American company 3D Systems has announced the availability of Figure 4, the industry’s first modular, scalable, fully integrated direct 3-D printing platform. Available in stand-alone and factory production configurations, Figure 4 combines services, technology, materials and software designed to revolutionize manufacturers’ production environments, the company said.
Incorporating high-speed digital molding for simplified production of plastic parts, the Figure 4 platform enables manufacturers to match the accuracy, reliability, repeatability and uptime of conventional injection molding, according to 3D Systems. Furthermore, its print technology, combined with production-grade materials, enables an up to 15 times improvement in the throughput at a cost of up to 20 percent lower than that of current manufacturing processes.
Aimed at flexible manufacturing, Figure 4 offers four models designed to meet the needs of various production environments in a range of industries: Figure 4 Production, Figure 4 Modular, Figure 4 Standalone and Figure 4 Dental. The last is a single-engine independent 3-D printer with centralized post-processing designed for dental production, prototyping and sacrificial casting. According to 3D Systems, its portfolio of biocompatible materials makes this the only printer on the market to address more than ten indications.
Figure 4 solutions are designed to remove the barriers of conventional manufacturing processes, giving customers streamlined and efficient access to superior quality parts with minimal effort, 3D Systems said. To help its customers increase productivity and efficiency, all Figure 4 configurations come integrated with the company’s 3D Sprint and 3D Connect software.
