LEIPZIG, Germany: The International Association of Dental Students (IADS) plays a critical role in the personal and professional growth of dental students from around the world, and Dental Tribune International (DTI) has been its media partner since 2017. As part of the agreement, DTI publishes on its website the IADS Magazine, the August issue of which is now available.
IADS was founded in 1951 in order to serve the educational needs of dental students throughout the world. Today, representing the interests of more than 200,000 students from around 60 countries, the association strives for educational and scientific excellence throughout the international projects and initiatives it manages.
One of those initiatives is its magazine. Speaking to DTI, the newly appointed editor Greta Kersyte said, “The aim of the magazine is to introduce dental students to what IADS is, what it does and how it works, as well as to publish the latest news in dentistry.”
The August issue covers many different areas, including an interview with long-standing member of IADS and former president Dr Sina Saygili. It also features an article on a training camp in Malta, where students from across Europe came together to develop their skills further, and a report on the 2018 edition of the World Health Assembly, which took place in Geneva in Switzerland earlier this year.
“Dental students seem to be very interested in the publication. We are always receiving messages asking us when the next issue will be published. I think the previous editor Abanob Yosry really did a great job by creating an editorial board and giving people an opportunity to write, proofread and even design articles by themselves. By doing this, he kind of introduced people to the magazine creation process, so later they could share all that knowledge,” explained Kersyte.
The magazine is published in February, May, August and November. Speaking about the November issue, Kersyte said, “I am excited, as it will be written by the new editorial board which we will be recruiting this month. So, if people are interested in working with us, information can be found on our Facebook and Instagram page. Regarding content, I can tell you that we will definitely be writing about our biggest event, which took place this week in Taiwan, the 65thIADS Annual Congress.”
The latest issue of the IADS Magazine can be found here.
