In an interview at the International Dental Show (IDS), Christoph Weiss, managing director of BEGO, and Dr Alexander Faber, director of sales, talk about innovations, digitalisation and the future of the company.

Mr Weiss, BEGO is presenting numerous new products at IDS 2025 under the motto “The future of dentistry—innovative, efficient, reliable and sustainable”. What innovations are you focused on?
Weiss: We are delighted to once again be introducing pioneering innovations from BEGO at IDS. In implantology, we are presenting the BEGO Semados Esthetic Line, which is setting new standards in aesthetic restorations. We are also celebrating the première of implant-supported, 3D-printed single definitive crowns with the BEGO ImpliQ product line. Another highlight is our new 3D-printing material, VarseoSmile TriniQ, which makes it possible to print definitive three-unit bridges for the first time.

As the global market leader, we are also setting new standards in the digital production of partial dentures with selective laser melting. We are presenting two groundbreaking solutions that are revolutionising the fabrication of partial dentures: WIRONIUM RP, a non-precious metal alloy for the digital production of clasp partial denture frameworks, and WIRONIUM RP Hybrid, an innovative digitally fabricated one-piece partial denture retained on telescopic crowns. These developments emphasise our consistent focus on digital production technologies that combine efficiency, precision and sustainability.

BEGO’s introduction of software based on artificial intelligence (AI) for the design checking of partial denture frameworks is an important step towards digitalisation for the company. What advantages does this solution offer?
Weiss: The introduction of our AI-based Intelligent Design Assistant (IDA) software represents a milestone in the digital transformation of partial denture frameworks. IDA analyses and checks incoming digital framework designs automatically using AI developed in-house. The system draws on an extensive database of tested and produced partial dentures, an advantage that results from our decades of market leadership in this area.

This technology enables us to offer our customers faster and more reliable approval of their designs, making the entire manufacturing process more efficient and safer. In future, we will continue to expand our digital solutions in order to make dental production processes even more intelligent, networked and user-friendly.

Dr Faber, BEGO pursues the philosophy of “working together for success”. How is this approach reflected in your corporate culture, your customer relationships and your market strategy—both nationally and internationally?
Dr Faber: Direct dialogue with our customers has been a central component of our corporate culture for over 135 years. One particular example of this is the tradition of our BEGO ships, on which customers can stay overnight during IDS—an opportunity that has set us apart from other companies for decades. Here, as well as at our trade fair stand, our management and our owner Christoph Weiss will be available for personal discussions. This proximity to our customers is also reflected in our corporate philosophy: we focus on partnership-based cooperation, individual advice and practical solutions to provide the best possible support for dentists and dental technicians worldwide.

For Weiss, IDS is a perfect opportunity to enter into direct dialogue with customers and partners.

What significance does IDS 2025 hold for your company, and how do you manage direct dialogue with customers and partners during the trade fair and beyond?
Weiss: As Alexander has already mentioned, we attach great importance to personal dialogue, both at the trade fair and beyond. For us, IDS is not just a platform for presenting our innovations, but above all an opportunity to enter into direct dialogue with our customers, gain valuable insights and strengthen long-term partnerships.

The BEGO Hands-on Arena will once again be a highlight in 2025, complemented by the new live stage with presentations and interactive networking. What new insights do you expect from the live stage?
Dr Faber: In our hands-on arena, the focus is on practical experience: here, visitors have the opportunity to try out our products for themselves and experience their quality and usability. Even in these times of increasing digitalisation, it remains essential that dentists and dental technicians get a direct feel for materials and products—after all, it’s about providing patients with the highest precision and quality.

Our new live stage expands this concept to include interactive presentations and networking opportunities. In addition to specialist lectures, we are offering presentations on topics that go beyond dentistry itself, particularly focusing on practice communication and human resources management. This addresses a frequently expressed concern of our customers regarding the office workforce. Finding, retaining and supporting qualified staff is an increasing challenge for many practices. Through our live stage, we aim to provide valuable insights and support dentists and dental technicians in successfully managing their teams.
