LISBON, Portugal: In a fun and fast-moving twist on the traditional presentation of clinical cases, the opening afternoon of this year’s EAO congress saw seven dental professionals each present a patient case of their own in the form of a 7-minute video.
Chaired by Drs José Manuel Navarro and Arndt Happe, the session featured a range of notable figures in the world of implantology, including Drs Giorgio Tabanella, Marco Degidi and Kamae Yoshinori. After the conclusion of his or her video, each speaker was allowed a question-and-answer segment regarding his or her specific clinical case.
“We received many high-quality videos on a variety of topics,” said Happe. “Immediate single-tooth implants, sinus elevation and All-on-4 were all featured, and though most videos focused on the surgical side, some contained restorative aspects.”
Happe expressed his pleasure at how the video session went. “In my opinion, it was a very interesting session with excellent video productions showing cutting-edge technologies as well as high-quality surgery and implant treatment. Furthermore, the discussion that followed each video was vibrant.”

The clinician who is judged to have provided the best presentation will be recognised at an award ceremony on Saturday. He or she will receive the European Prize for Clinical Video on Implant Dentistry, as well as a cash prize of €2,000, and his or her video will be broadcast on the EAO’s social media channels.
