VIENNA, Austria: As awareness of oral health’s role in overall well-being grows worldwide, Curasept is advancing a clear and timely mission: to promote oral health as a foundation for general health. The Italy-based brand, renowned for its science-driven solutions and commitment to innovation, is rapidly expanding across international markets.

Driving this growth is Giulia Giovannardi, Curasept’s chief international business development officer. She explained the brand’s guiding philosophy: “We are not just a product company; we are an oral health company. Every formula, every product line, every partnership is built on this philosophy. Our mission is to support people from birth to old age at every stage of their oral health journey.”

Curasept’s growth is driven by an agile approach to partnerships and a deep understanding of local needs, and this approach has helped the company expand to over 44 countries. “Our goal isn’t to be everywhere; it’s to be impactful wherever we are,” Giovannardi emphasised. “That means tailoring our approach to local realities while staying grounded in scientific excellence. We’re cultivating a culture of proactive oral care—investing in education, supporting dental professionals and designing solutions that prevent disease before it starts,” she explained.

Curasept is trusted by dental professionals for its clinically proven, alcohol-free chlorhexidine formulations. However, the brand’s vision for prevention extends well beyond ingredients.

Why prevention matters

Globally, oral disease remains a significant and growing burden. According to the World Health Organization, untreated dental caries in permanent teeth is the most prevalent health condition worldwide, affecting an estimated 2.5 billion people. Severe periodontal disease impacts approximately one billion individuals and is closely linked to systemic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

“These are not just dental issues; they are public health challenges,” said Giovannardi. “The dental industry has both the tools and the responsibility to lead the change.” She added: “Oral health has to be practical. If a patient won’t use a product consistently, it doesn’t work, so we focus not only on clinical efficacy but also on user experience.”

Advocating multidisciplinary collaboration to address oral health issues

For Giovannardi, the future of Curasept is rooted in collaboration—among clinicians, researchers, educators, patients and the broader healthcare ecosystem. “We’re listening more than ever. The insights we gather from dentists, hygienists and everyday practice are shaping our next-generation products and services.”

This commitment also extends to education. Curasept is expanding its support for universities and professional development, helping bridge the gap between clinical research and practical care.

Partnering with WONCA for a holistic approach to oral health

Recently, as part of its broader mission, Curasept collaborated with the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) and the European Federation of Periodontology to create stronger links between dental professionals and general practitioners. This multidisciplinary model is designed to promote oral health as an integral part of overall health, connecting prevention strategies across the full spectrum of care. The circle of oral health encompasses dental and medical professionals, pharmacists, industry leaders—and patients themselves.

“We believe that better outcomes start with better conversations—between patients and dental teams and between clinicians and industry,” Giovannardi said.

As Curasept grows, its mission remains steadfast: to lead with science, empower prevention and elevate oral health standards worldwide. “Our mission is simple,” explained Giovannardi. “Help people keep their teeth and gums healthy for life. Everything we do—from innovation to education—serves that goal.”

With a bold vision, a science-first strategy and a deep commitment to prevention, Curasept is not just adapting to the evolving landscape of oral health; it is helping to shape it.
