BRUSSELS, Belgium: The scientific programme at Dentex, which currently takes place in Brussels, offers education across a broad range of clinical, digital and practice-related topics. This year, the Belgium-based professional community neDwork is collaborating with Dentex on part of the educational programme.

Founded in 2018, the network has grown to bring together clinicians, universities, training centres, manufacturers, dental associations, publishers, students, clinics, laboratories and technicians. Its activities include accredited lectures, hands-on courses, masterclasses and international educational programmes, alongside initiatives intended to foster professional exchange and collaboration.

Christiane Ferret, neDwork founder and CEO, said the collaboration was intended to bring a practical and people-focused dimension to this year’s Dentex programme. “For Dentex, it is important to offer education that not only presents new techniques and technologies but also encourages discussion, connections and the exchange of experiences,” she said.

“We selected the topics by looking at what is currently relevant in daily practice and listening to the interests of our professional community. The speakers were chosen for their expertise, but equally for their ability to translate knowledge into practical insights that participants can genuinely use. For neDwork, the right combination is always strong content, inspiring people and an experience that brings the dental community closer together,” Ferret added.

At Dentex 2026, neDwork is contributing ten educational sessions covering restorative and digital dentistry, implantology, surgery and regeneration, endodontics, orthodontics and aligner therapy, interdisciplinary care and practice development. As part of the programme, Dr Christophe Heinix and Lieselot Onclinx-Viérin will present a session on “Connected dentistry” on 2 October from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m at the main stage.

Rather than viewing the concept simply as the adoption of digital technologies, the speakers will examine broader changes in how dental care is organised and delivered. According to the speakers, dentistry has always depended on relationships between dentists and patients, between dental practices and laboratories and between oral healthcare and the wider healthcare system. As care becomes increasingly multidisciplinary, effective coordination between the professionals involved becomes more important.

During the session, Dr Heinix will explore connected dentistry from the perspective of the changing organisation of dental practice. “Digitalisation is changing administrative processes, patient communication and collaboration between clinicians and dental laboratories, particularly in prosthetic dentistry. As dental practices become larger and more multidisciplinary, stronger leadership, effective administrative systems and well-organised workflows become increasingly important,” Dr Heinix said.

Onclinx-Viérin will focus particularly on the patient journey. “Patient care involves people, information, technologies and workflows that all need to work together. As dentistry becomes more complex, the quality of these connections becomes increasingly important,” she said.

Underlying both perspectives is the idea that dentistry remains a team effort. Technology can support communication and coordination, but connected dentistry ultimately depends on how effectively people, systems and expertise work together to support patient care.

Later that day, on 2 October from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., neDwork will host a happy hour in the conference lounge.
