Global leaders gather in Sofia to celebrate innovation and excellence in dentistry

SOFIA, Bulgaria: The 18^th internationally renowned Smile of the Year dental contest has continued its upward global trajectory, drawing participants from 14 countries. This year’s winners will be recognised at a glitzy awards ceremony on 13 May at Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia, celebrating the best in contemporary dental excellence.

Participation in Smile of the Year has accelerated the careers of young dental professionals in Bulgaria and beyond. “The competition has always kept pace with the latest trends in dental medicine, reflecting real-world innovation,” said Ulyana Vincheva, founder of Smile of the Year.

A total of 77 applications have been submitted across 18 categories, particularly in the categories of Clinical Case with a Fully Digital Protocol, Orthodontics with Aligners—Adults, and Ceramic Partial Restorations. Dental professionals from all over the world have entered—Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Taiwan and Ukraine.

The competition is judged by a prestigious international jury of global opinion leaders in dentistry. Of those judges, Dr Paulo Kano, Dr Dario Severino and Ciprian Boca will attend the event in person. Dr Kano will also deliver an exclusive masterclass on 12 May, the day before the ceremony.

The platinum sponsors of this year’s awards are the bredent group, Art E Stroy and Porsche Sofia West. The gold sponsor, LUCENTE, will also present an innovative lithium disilicate created in Brazil. Guests will be able to enjoy signature beverages curated by Berkshire Botanical. Champagne Wine Shop & Bar is also a beverage partner of the event.
