Sara Ahmed oversees product management and marketing at BioHorizons Camlog, a pioneer in engineering smiles through dental implants and tissue regeneration solutions that boasts a legacy spanning over three decades. In this interview, Ahmed shares insights into the company’s innovative products on display at AEEDC Dubai.

What can visitors look forward to discovering at the BioHorizons Camlog booth?
Visitors can explore our innovative implant systems, particularly the latest Tapered Pro Conical implant line and its novel surgical kits. They will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with our biomaterials portfolio and participate in training sessions on the new Tapered Pro Conical implant and its surgical kits. These sessions will provide an overview of the implant’s key features and its advantages over competitor systems.

How does the Tapered Pro Conical implant stand out in the market?
The Tapered Pro Conical features a 7.5° deep conical connection designed to reduce micro-movements and deliver superior positional stability compared with other conical systems on the market. It incorporates only two prosthetic platform connections, enhancing restorative workflow efficiency and simplifying inventory management. Additionally, it includes the Laser-Lok surface treatment, which has been shown to promote connective tissue attachment and preserve crestal bone. This implant is engineered for enhanced surgical versatility, offering a best-in-class conical connection. We invite all visitors to attend our hands-on sessions at the booth.

Why is optimising restorative workflow efficiency increasingly significant in implantology?
Indeed, we recognise a growing emphasis on immediacy in implantology. In recent years, the concepts of immediate implant placement and immediate loading have gained significant traction. Patients are increasingly seeking quicker solutions, and immediately placed implants and restorations offer the advantage of faster recovery times.

Evidence-based research has demonstrated that immediate implant placement can be successful, particularly when performed in an ideal position with sufficient bone quality and volume. It can lead to faster osseointegration and reduce overall treatment times. Immediate implant placement may also minimise the number of surgeries required, thereby shortening the healing period for patients. Additionally, immediate placement is often utilised in the anterior region, where aesthetics are critical. Placing an implant immediately after tooth extraction may result in a more aesthetically pleasing outcome, particularly in terms of gingival architecture and tooth alignment.

How do you envision immediacy shaping the future of implantology?
At BioHorizons Camlog, we believe that immediacy is shaping the future of implant design and development. It fosters advancements in technology, materials, implant design and surgical techniques to enable more predictable immediate loading. Innovations in imaging technology and 3D planning software are likely to facilitate the development of more precise surgical techniques, which could lead to improved patient outcomes.

What objectives does BioHorizons Camlog aim to achieve at this year’s AEEDC Dubai?
AEEDC Dubai provides a valuable opportunity to engage with our customers, gather feedback from current product users and identify ways to enhance our offerings. Our customers can count on us to tailor our products to their needs and provide comprehensive treatment solutions, including implants, biomaterials and digital workflows. Additionally, we aim to increase brand awareness among clinicians and enhance visibility of our products, helping potential customers to discover the innovative solutions we offer. I am also looking forward to learning about new advancements in implantology and networking with industry partners.
