BIRMINGHAM, UK: In a record-breaking turnout, over 13,000 dental professionals gathered at this year’s British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show, held on 18 and 19 May at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. As the first event resulting from the collaboration between the British Dental Association and CloserStill Media, the free-to-attend show featured well-known speakers, numerous education and training opportunities, and a platform for dialogue between the industry and professionals.

With hundreds of companies in attendance, visitors not only were able to view their latest products and services, but could also partake in the continuing professional development activities at their stands. The Hygienist and Therapist Symposium, supported by the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy and the British Association of Dental Therapists, was just one example of a popular event that offered attendees an interesting and educational series of lectures. Other well-received features included the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s Aesthetic and Digital Dentist Theatre, Next Generation Conference, Special Interest Theatre and Dental Business Theatre, which provided clinicians with a well-rounded view of what the future of dental technology looks like and how this can be incorporated into the workflow of a dental business.

The British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show came about as a way to bring CloserStill’s main event, the Dentistry Show, and the British Dental Conference together to provide an advanced and complementary offering. The response from visitors to this year’s events has shown that it was a success. “I really enjoyed the show this year,” said dental hygienist Rachel White. “There was a really nice mixture of stands and lectures with lots of new products, brands and ideas coming to the fore.”
