ŁÓDŹ, Poland: The organisers of the Central European Dental Exhibition (CEDE) have announced that the on-site event scheduled for 3 to 5 December in Łódź will not take place as planned. The decision was made in the light of the progression of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in Poland. Currently, large Polish cities, including Łódź, are considered high-risk areas for infection with the virus.

The organisers stated that it is impossible to hold a in-person event under the current circumstances, especially since it is not foreseeable that the situation will improve in the near future. In addition, the local government has imposed a number of restrictions aimed at containing the spread of the virus, including a ban on conferences and exhibitions.

CEDE is the longest running dental show in Poland and has been held annually since 1991. Over the last two decades, the event has steadily expanded and is considered to be one of the most important events in the European dental calendar. This year, CEDE was originally planned to take place from 24 to 26 September in Poznań in Poland. However, the pandemic forced the organisers to postpone the event to early December and change the location. As a substitute for the cancelled live event in September, a free-of-charge online event, the Virtual Dental Exhibition by CEDE, was hosted, through which the organisers made webinars, round-table discussions and a trade show available to dental professionals worldwide.

As the organisers believe that the pandemic will be over by the middle of next year, they further announced that the next edition of CEDE will be held from 16 to 18 September 2021 in Łódź.
