Phrozen is an industry leader in the manufacture of high-resolution resin 3D printers, specialising in liquid crystal display technology. The company provides advanced printing solutions for various industries and is making important contributions to the ongoing evolution of dentistry. Phrozen focuses on innovation that can enhance efficiency and quality. In this interview with Dental Tribune International, CEO Ray Wu shares insight into the global expansion of Phrozen, the practical value of its products in daily work and what the future holds for the company.
Could you tell us more about your journey into 3D printing and what motivated you to focus on this technology, particularly in the dental field?
My journey into 3D printing started with a passion for engineering and a vision to make high-quality 3D printing more accessible and practical. When we founded Phrozen, we saw the limitations of existing technologies—slow speeds, complex workflows and high costs—so we set out to develop faster, more precise and cost-effective solutions.
Dentistry became a key focus for us because precision and efficiency are critical in this field. Traditional methods for creating dental appliances are time-consuming and labour-intensive. By integrating 3D printing into digital dentistry, we have been able to help clinics and labs produce customised, high-quality restorations in a fraction of the time, improving both the patient experience and operational efficiency. Today, Phrozen continues to push the boundaries of dental 3D printing—in our resin printers and post-processing solutions and now even metal printing—helping dental professionals streamline workflows and deliver better care faster.
Since the launch of the Phrozen DLP: One printer in 2016, Phrozen has expanded its reach across the US, Europe and Asia. How do you see Phrozen’s position in the global dental 3D-printing market today, and what sets your dental solutions apart in such a competitive landscape?
Since 2016, we’ve steadily expanded our presence in the global dental 3D-printing market, not just by offering innovative technology but also by building the expertise and network needed to support dental professionals effectively. We recognise that success in this space isn’t about getting everything perfect from the start. Instead, by continuously listening to our customers and channel partners and refining our products, we’ve gradually earned the trust and acceptance of the broader dental market. Many under-estimate the challenges of this field by assuming that a great product is enough, but our journey shows that true impact comes from evolving alongside industry needs.
Phrozen stands out by providing an accessible and complete digital dentistry solution. Our budget-friendly and easy-to-use systems are designed for both chairside and labside applications, making it easier for dental professionals new to 3D printing to integrate the technology seamlessly. By enabling in-house production of high-precision dental appliances—such as crowns, aligners and surgical guides—our solutions help clinics and labs reduce reliance on external providers, lower costs and increase efficiency.
Ultimately, our goal is to empower dental professionals to deliver better patient care. By enabling faster production times and offering the potential for same-day delivery of dental appliances, Phrozen is making digital dentistry more practical, efficient and cost-effective for clinics and labs worldwide.
In day-to-day dental workflows, efficiency and precision are key. How does Phrozen’s technology enhance the practical aspects of dental 3D printing, such as ease of use, speed and accuracy, for dental professionals in their daily practice?
Phrozen’s technology is designed to enhance both efficiency and precision, whether for chairside or labside applications. For chairside applications, our focus is on same-day delivery. Phrozen’s printers utilise a 385 nm wavelength light source, ensuring high-precision prints that meet dental standards. Our systems are designed with an intuitive step-by-step guided interface, making them easy to operate even for first-time users. After just a few simple steps, printing can begin in as little as 10 minutes, and most dental appliances, such as crowns, surgical guides and temporary restorations, can be completed in just 30–45 minutes. For labside applications, our technology is built to maximise production efficiency. With a larger build platform, our printers can produce up to 20 full-arch models in a single batch, significantly increasing output and optimising workflow for dental labs handling higher volumes.
By combining speed, precision and ease of use, Phrozen empowers dental professionals to streamline their daily practice—delivering faster treatments, reducing costs and improving patient care.
Are there any recent innovations you’re particularly excited about showcasing at this year’s International Dental Show (IDS)?
At IDS 2025, we are unveiling our next-generation dental 3D-printing workstation, designed to deliver a seamless, high-efficiency workflow, from printing to post-processing. At its core are our advanced CS+ and LS+ 3D printers, designed to elevate digital dentistry in clinics and labs with faster turnaround times and enhanced productivity. Complementing these printers, our Wash+ and CURE+ systems automate cleaning and post-curing, reducing manual labour while ensuring consistent, high-quality and biocompatible results.
In addition to resin printing, Phrozen develops specialised solutions tailored to key dental applications. Two examples are TRIM+ and FORGE. TRIM+ makes aligner trimming and polishing ten times faster by automating the process. Each aligner is processed in just 1.0–1.5 minutes. Integrated into our digital ecosystem, it delivers patient-ready aligners in as little as an hour.
FORGE is our first metal 3D printer and is designed for high-speed, high-precision titanium printing. FORGE makes the fabrication of implant bars, removeable partial denture frameworks, and crown and bridge substructures both accessible and efficient for labs of all sizes. This compact-size technology opens new possibilities in metal 3D printing, ensuring top-quality results and faster turnaround times.
By combining high-speed printing, streamlined post-processing and specialised application solutions, Phrozen is redefining digital dentistry, enabling dental professionals to produce high-quality dental appliances faster, more efficiently and more easily than ever.
What can dental professionals expect from Phrozen in the coming years? Are there any upcoming developments or strategic plans aimed at further enhancing the 3D-printing experience in dentistry?
At Phrozen, our vision for the future of dental 3D printing is to create a more comprehensive and seamless digital dentistry workflow. We are committed to developing solutions that further streamline production, reduce manual labour and enhance efficiency for dental professionals.
One of our key focus areas is the expansion of metal 3D printing. We’re continuously investing in research and development to create a one-click metal printing product that delivers a one-stop solution, from printing to post-processing. This integrated approach will not only enhance precision and durability for dental restorations and implants but also simplify workflows, making advanced metal printing more accessible and efficient for dental professionals.
Also, we continue to develop targeted solutions for specific dental applications. For example, V-CURE, our forthcoming curing station, utilises vacuum-based polymerisation. It is designed specifically to eliminate the oxygen inhibition layer, which can interfere with the curing process, without the use of nitrogen or a glycerine bath. This innovation offers a safer and simpler curing solution that not only meets the minimum biocompatibility standards but can also easily exceed them, no matter which resin is used.
Phrozen remains dedicated to advancing dental 3D-printing technology, seeking to make digital dentistry more accessible, efficient and precise. Our ongoing innovations will continue to empower clinics and labs, enabling them to deliver better care with greater speed and reliability.
