GLASGOW, UK: The American orthodontist Prof. Greg Huang, Chair of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, will deliver the prestigious Northcroft Memorial Lecture at this year’s British Orthodontic Conference (BOC). In his lecture, Huang will outline the findings from the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network (NDPBRN) adult anterior open bite study, a large prospective practice-based network study conducted in the US.
The aims of the NDPBRN study were to assess practitioner recommendations, patient acceptance, treatment outcomes, patient satisfaction and long-term stability. Ninety-one practitioners and 347 adult anterior open bite patients from across the US were initially enrolled in the study, and about 250 completed treatment during the study period.
In 2001, Huang commenced his career as a clinical scientist and, in 2008, was appointed to his current position at the University of Washington. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, has published more than 80 academic articles and is the co-editor of two orthodontic textbooks. His presentation, titled "Results from the NDPBRN Adult Anterior Open-bite Study", will be held in the Clyde Auditorium at 12:05 p.m. on Friday, September 20.
BOC 2019 boasts a diverse programme with parallel sessions on driving private practice and for those considering a career in orthodontics, as well as a comprehensive programme for dental care professionals. This year’s event marks the 25th anniversary of the British Orthodontic Society, and as such, there will be much celebration at the conference.
