LISBON, Portugal: Dentsply Sirona has demonstrated the latest developments in its continually evolving Astra Tech Implant System at the 2019 European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) congress, currently being held in Lisbon. In addition, Azento, the company’s solution for single-tooth replacement, was highlighted.

“The implant solutions that we develop are based on the needs of our customers, as well as centred around our well-documented and clinically proven implant systems,” said Gene Dorff, Group Vice President of Implants at Dentsply Sirona.

“We’re all about providing long-term functional and aesthetic solutions for the many different situations that occur in clinics and laboratories every day all over the world. And we help dental professionals deliver the absolute best care for their patients,” he added.

The company took the opportunity at Lisbon to showcase the Astra Tech Implant System EV, the latest extension to its Astra Tech Implant System. With more than 1,000 articles in peer-reviewed journals since its launch, Astra Tech is one of the most well-documented implant systems on the market today. The revised implant design includes a deeper apical implant thread, making it easier to achieve ideal primary stability. In addition, the handling experience has been enhanced for easy implant placement.

The Astra Tech Implant System’s OsseoSpeed implants show excellent long-term clinical results, as described in a recent article by Windael et al. published in Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. A total of 105 implants were placed in edentulous mandibles and immediately loaded. Minimal bone loss, and 100% implant survival and 100% prosthetic survival rates at the ten-year follow-up were reported.

Dentsply Sirona’s Azento implant solution is designed to help professionals with one of the most common indications in implant therapy, single-tooth replacement. Each patient treated with Azento receives a custom treatment plan, including a surgical guide, instruments, drills, a case-specific Astra Tech Implant System or Xive implant, an Atlantis custom healing abutment and an optional temporary restoration.

The digital implant workflow of Azento streamlines implant planning, as well as the purchase and delivery of products. For the clinician, this custom implant solution increases convenience, seamlessly and efficiently connects with qualified laboratories, and enables consistent, excellent results for patients.

The Astra Tech Implant System EV will be available in North America from October 2019 and in European markets in early 2020.

Attendees who wish to learn more about Dentsply Sirona's wide range of implant solutions are invited to visit the company's booth (#C27) in Hall 2 at this year’s EAO meeting in Lisbon in Portugal from 26 to 28 September.
