HANGZHOU, China: Digital dentistry specialist SHINING 3D Dental has announced the launch of Aoralscan Elf, a next-generation intra-oral scanner designed to deliver optimal ergonomics, intelligent automation and clinical precision. The company has also announced new artificial intelligence (AI) features in its digital dentistry portfolio, including IntelliBite, an occlusion optimisation tool that improves restorative accuracy and workflow efficiency, and the Intelligent Plaque Management Suite, a data-driven preventive care solution.

The name “Elf” reflects the product’s core attributes: ergonomic, lightweight and functional. Weighing just 106 g, the device is one of the lightest intra-oral scanners available, supporting penlike balance, reduced hand fatigue and improved patient comfort. Its standard Type-C connection eliminates bulky external power boxes, and its faster scanning speed supports efficient chairside workflows. Further product highlights include its three tip sizes for paediatric, general, and edentulous and implant cases, as well as its smart software interface that enhances precision from scan to restoration.

IntelliBite for dependable AI-driven occlusion

Developed to eliminate the guesswork in digital occlusal registration, IntelliBite harnesses upgraded hardware and intelligent occlusal refinement algorithms to deliver occlusal data that mirrors true intra-oral contact and digital registration accuracy without the need for manual correction. This dramatically reduces the need for chairside adjustments and post-processing corrections.
