HANGZHOU, China: Digital dentistry specialist SHINING 3D Dental has announced the launch of Aoralscan Elf, a next-generation intra-oral scanner designed to deliver optimal ergonomics, intelligent automation and clinical precision. The company has also announced new artificial intelligence (AI) features in its digital dentistry portfolio, including IntelliBite, an occlusion optimisation tool that improves restorative accuracy and workflow efficiency, and the Intelligent Plaque Management Suite, a data-driven preventive care solution.
The name “Elf” reflects the product’s core attributes: ergonomic, lightweight and functional. Weighing just 106 g, the device is one of the lightest intra-oral scanners available, supporting penlike balance, reduced hand fatigue and improved patient comfort. Its standard Type-C connection eliminates bulky external power boxes, and its faster scanning speed supports efficient chairside workflows. Further product highlights include its three tip sizes for paediatric, general, and edentulous and implant cases, as well as its smart software interface that enhances precision from scan to restoration.
IntelliBite for dependable AI-driven occlusion
Developed to eliminate the guesswork in digital occlusal registration, IntelliBite harnesses upgraded hardware and intelligent occlusal refinement algorithms to deliver occlusal data that mirrors true intra-oral contact and digital registration accuracy without the need for manual correction. This dramatically reduces the need for chairside adjustments and post-processing corrections.

The workflow provides several benefits. For dental technicians, it supports reduced remakes and more predictable outcomes. For clinicians, it enables faster treatment delivery and reduced chairside time. For patients, it offers an improved fit, greater comfort and fewer return visits.
Intelligent Plaque Management Suite for digital prevention
This solution converts plaque visualisation into measurable digital data using intra-oral scanning and deep learning algorithms. It enables full-mouth plaque scanning and ratio analysis, visit-to-visit smart comparison reports and sharing via mobile devices for personalised home care guidance. It thereby simplifies hygiene workflows, improves patient awareness and supports long-term compliance and data-supported preventive dental care.
Strengthening SHINING 3D Dental’s digital dentistry platform
The new scanner and AI-driven features strengthen the company’s integrated portfolio of solutions, which now include intra-oral and facial scanning, jaw motion tracking, 3D printing, post-polymerisation, washing and cloud-based services such as the SHINING 3D Dental AI design platform. Together with technologies such as Aoralscan Elite, e-Motion Workstation, MetiSmile-MR, AccuFab 3D printers and Dental Cloud, the new releases reinforce the company’s commitment to delivering seamless workflows from diagnosis to production.
