MALMÖ, Sweden/COPENHAGEN, Denmark: Visitors to EuroPerio10, which will be held in Copenhagen from 15 to 18 June, are invited to visit TePe’s headquarters in Malmö, just a stone’s throw away from the congress venue. They will have an opportunity to attend a traditional Swedish Midsummer celebration and will gain an insight into how TePe’s products are manufactured using sustainable solutions—from conception to completion.
The technology used at TePe is more than that which initially meets the eye. What may appear to be ordinary plastic components are, in fact, the result of thorough research and ongoing efforts for sustainability. For example, fossil-based raw materials are increasingly being replaced by renewable materials in both products and packaging. In addition, manufacturing takes place using 100% renewable energy, which has been supplemented by power from TePe’s own solar panels since 2018. In 2022, additional panels will be mounted on top of a sedum roof, which will create a unique environment for insects—including the 100,000 bees already housed in a rooftop apiary.
The use of green energy, the shift to renewable sources and the transition from air to sea freight are all part of TePe’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. This means that, today, TePe can offer an entire range of bio-based products having a significantly smaller carbon footprint.
However, sustainability goes beyond materials, production and carbon dioxide. It is also about creating good conditions for long-term well-being. TePe is built on the vision of creating healthy smiles for life by inspiring good oral health. Thus, the company works together with dentists, hygienists and therapists worldwide to provide information and educate people about oral health, preventive care, and the connection between oral health and general health.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals call for governments, the private sector and civil society to collaborate in order to drive progress which will have a long-term positive impact. A recent collaboration of interest to the health sector is the FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) Sustainability in Dentistry initiative, which unites eco-conscious dental industry partners around a common aim. FDI and its partners, among them TePe, cooperate in mapping out strategies and implementing solutions to help reduce the environmental impact of dentistry and the dental industry.
To discuss sustainability in dentistry in more detail, attendees of EuroPerio10 can meet TePe representatives at Booth C2:08. Registration for the Midsummer party can be completed online at www.tepe.com/global/europerio.
