COLOGNE, Germany: At the 2025 International Dental Show (IDS), the massive exhibition presented the full spectrum of dental innovation from international and local companies. Besides these significant advancements, the value of collaboration and engagement was in the spotlight. Among the standout spaces for networking was the invitation-only Media Lounge, hosted by Dental Tribune International (DTI) and OEMUS MEDIA in Hall 4.1. Over the five-day event, the lounge welcomed around 2,700 guests, including numerous key figures from the global dental industry.

A fixture at IDS for the past three decades, the Media Lounge has become a go-to space for business talks and informal conversations. Spread across approximately 180 m², it offered guests a relaxed oasis in the midst of the busy trade fair, complete with top-notch food and drinks.

This year, the stand’s design paid tribute to two milestones: 30 years of OEMUS MEDIA and 20 years of DTI, both celebrated in 2024. As part of the anniversary campaign, the walls featured portrait photographs of team members, giving the booth a personal touch and highlighting the spirit and dedication of the teams behind the scenes.

A space for connection and collaboration

Held every two years, the Media Lounge has become a key meeting point for fresh ideas and collaborative ventures. On 26 March, for example, DTI hosted the Present and Future Technologies Reception at its booth. The event brought together members of the International Academy for Dental 3D Printing (iad3Dp) and the Dental AI Association, as well as professionals from across the clinical and industry spectrum, to promote collaboration and open-access innovation.

“3D printing and artificial intelligence are reshaping the dental world. AI will transform additive manufacturing by optimising design, improving efficiency and enhancing outcomes,” said Dr George Freedman, founder of iad3Dp and editor-in-chief of DTI’s 3D printing magazine, during the reception.

Behind the scenes

Around 60 team members contributed to the smooth running of the Media Lounge, including 35 staff in catering, logistics and organisation. Each day, approximately 300 meals were freshly prepared and up to 550 guests visited the lounge.

The scale of the operation was impressive: three refrigerated vehicles, two lorries and two shipping containers served as a logistics hub for food and printed materials. As is typical of large events, there were a few unexpected moments: two coffee machines stopped working, three short circuits sparked brief tension, two water connections failed, and one beer tap mysteriously disappeared (leaving only the keg behind).

The Media Lounge will return for the next IDS from 16 to 20 March 2027.
