LANGENAU, Germany: In endodontics, some challenges go deep—literally. Long roots, deep cavities or large jaws require instruments with greater reach. COLTENE has now introduced a 31 mm length across the entire HyFlex EDM file range. This addition also extends to its proven OGSF sequence, offering clinicians greater reach, control and safety down to the depths of the canal.
Greater flexibility thanks to the new length
The new 31 mm variant enables precise preparation even in challenging anatomical conditions, such as difficult-to-reach premolars with long roots. It offers greater reach where standard lengths fall short—while
supporting ergonomic work and delivering precise tactile feedback. Dental practices now have three file lengths to choose from:
- 21 mm for patients with limited mouth opening, short roots or
confined spaces;
- 25 mm as the standard length for most endodontic cases; and
- 31 mm for long roots and deep cavity access.
This product expansion reflects COLTENE’s expertise in the field of endodontic instrument systems—offering practitioners safe, precise and efficient solutions for daily practice.
Simple protocol, reliable results
The HyFlex EDM OGSF file series from COLTENE consists of four coordinated nickel–titanium files—Opener, Glider, Shaper and Finisher—and covers the essential steps of endodontic preparation. The OGSF standard protocol is quick to learn and allows efficient preparation to working length with just a few pecking movements. The four-step sequence optimises the workflow, increases safety in everyday practice and ensures reproducible results, providing an ideal solution for dentists worldwide.
Sophisticated manufacturing for maximum safety
HyFlex EDM files are made of a nickel–titanium alloy that undergoes a controlled memory heat treatment and are manufactured using an innovative electrical discharge machining process. Their high fracture resistance and variable cross-section design give the files exceptional safety, flexibility and cutting performance. This allows for multiple use and easy visual inspection during application.
Practical support for users
COLTENE regularly supports dental practices by providing workshops and continuing education through experienced and practice-oriented tutors.
