BERLIN, Germany: Under the motto of “Trust experience. Discover excellence”, the recent 2018 Ankylos Congress provided Dentsply Sirona with an opportunity to showcase the future possibilities of its Ankylos implant system. More than 1,000 dental professionals from over 50 countries gathered in Berlin to learn about this system, which has already been used for over 17,000 patients.

Building upon 33 years of long-term proven implant success, the congress provided attendees with a preview of what the future of the Ankylos system will look like. The presentation of new scientific findings formed the foundation of the event, while the industry’s latest trends and newest protocols were also highlighted.

With more than 40 international guest speakers at the congress, the audience was treated to expert insights regarding the importance of trusting experience, in particular when choosing an implant system. In the opening session, titled “Based on evidence, proven by experience—State-of-the-art implant design”, speakers Dr Barry Goldenberg, Prof. Ye Lin, Dr Valdir Muglia and Dr Marco Degidi reviewed the clinical evidence for the Ankylos system and demonstrated how it could be particularly advantageous for long-term periodontal health in the aesthetic zone.

A range of sessions held on the second day of the congress allowed attendees to explore treatment options, discover new techniques and hone their skills. Workshops, lectures and hands-on opportunities enabled dental clinicians and technicians to deepen their knowledge on relevant topics, and showcases such as Dentsply Sirona’s Inspiration Hub not only allowed for further inspection of the company’s products, but also offered a chance for networking with peers.

With his closing lecture, “Why digital? Why now?”, Dr Mark Ludlow reiterated the importance of lifelong learning and applying digital techniques to perform faster, more predictable treatments, leaving attendees with much to reflect on. Regarding the message that Dentsply Sirona wanted attendees to take away from the event, Group Vice President of Dentsply Sirona Implants Dr Lars Henrikson said, “Clinical experience, professional skills and scientific evidence are the basis for the development of new treatment protocols and for overcoming challenges, ultimately leading to a long-term contribution to oral health.”
