SCHAAN, Liechtenstein: The Ivoclar Group is a leading global supplier of integrated solutions for high-quality dental restorations. The company boasts a comprehensive product and systems portfolio for dentists, dental technicians and dental hygienists. The zirconia materials IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime and IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic from Ivoclar offer high strength, efficiency and ease of use. Owing to the proprietary gradient technology, the zirconia discs feature a seamless progression of shade and translucency and thus allow fabrication of restorations with unparalleled aesthetics. These discs are now encircled by a ring designed to improve the dental laboratory workflow and efficiency in the production of zirconia restorations.
As a result of its many years of experience in developing solutions for all areas of dentistry, the Ivoclar Group has a long history of setting benchmarks in the dental industry. Over the years, customers throughout the world have come to trust the ceramic materials from Ivoclar and the IPS e.max family of products in particular. Numerous clinical studies on Prime Zirconia have confirmed the material’s impressive survival rate of 96% after five years in situ. This bears testimony to the durability and high quality of this material, which has been successfully used in clinical dentistry for almost 20 years. The IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime and IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic discs are a product of the company’s commitment to developing top-quality dental solutions. The new design of the Prime Zirconia discs is a further example of the company’s innovativeness.
No compromises in the fabrication of zirconia restorations
Tobias Specht, senior director of Ivoclar’s global business units, had the following to say about the products: “Our Prime Zirconia products are the result of intensive collaboration with our customers. Their invaluable input have enabled the developers of our IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime and IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic to come up with and add a highly innovative feature to our discs in the form of a compact ring, which assists users in inserting the disc or repositioning it in the milling machine correctly. It is no longer necessary to make individual guide markings. Moreover, the ring protects the disc from fracturing or chipping, and it allows the disc to be inserted in its holder in the milling machine without creating any tension. The ring is colour-coded in accordance with the IPS e.max ZirCAD product portfolio to make work easy for dental technicians. It also enables them to easily distinguish between the different products.”
Enhanced efficiency and ease of use
The new feature of the Prime Zirconia discs offers Ivoclar customers an innovative solution that will enable dental laboratories to work more efficiently and accurately. The disc is easy to insert in the holder of the milling machine without creating any tension. This prevents chipping and fracturing during the milling process, thus increasing the efficiency of the laboratory and reducing wastage of materials.
The disc edge is slightly bevelled to minimise the risk of damage when it is handled repeatedly. This integrated edge protection improves the longevity of the zirconia disc and therefore contributes to enhancing the cost-effectiveness of the laboratory. The ring has a notch which allows the disc to be repositioned in the holder with ease. Therefore, it is no longer necessary for dental technicians to mark the disc themselves, saving valuable time and further increasing the efficiency of the laboratory. In order to improve user friendliness, the ring matches the colour of the disc, making it easy to identify the required type of disc— facilitating work especially on busy days.
With the introduction of the ring around the IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime and IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime Esthetic discs, Ivoclar has taken a further step towards heightening customer satisfaction and improving and simplifying dental laboratory processes. This innovative solution combines efficiency, reliability, aesthetics and user friendliness and highlights Ivoclar’s commitment to excellence in dental laboratory technology.
