SEOUL, South Korea: Osstem Implant, a global leader in dental implant sales, showcased its commitment to advancing digital dentistry at the 2024 Osstem World Meeting held in Seoul on 27 and 28 April. This prestigious event attracted 1,500 dental professionals from 56 countries and was a demonstration of Osstem’s dedication to its global audience. The in-person sessions were broadcast live via Osstem’s DenALL TV platform and YouTube channel, and online interaction was enabled with real-time questions and answers. The sessions were also simultaneously translated into English, Chinese, Japanese and Russian.
Hands-on training in cutting-edge technology
Central to the meeting’s clinical education were five hands-on courses held at Osstem’s central research centre at its headquarters. One of these was a demonstration of the OneCAS KIT by Dr Nicolas Widmer from Switzerland. He highlighted the kit’s precision and minimal invasiveness, impressing attendees with its robust surgical guide with side opening that ensures stability even during high-speed drilling in complex procedures such as sinus lift.
Dr Ieva Gendviliene, an assistant professor at the Institute of Dentistry at Vilnius University in Lithuania, was asked about her experience in taking part in Dr Widmer’s hands-on course. She said: “The course was highly concentrated and well structured and the information presented logically and supported by scientific knowledge. The OneCAS KIT is user-friendly, although the counting can be a bit tricky for beginners. However, once you grasp the principles, it becomes straightforward, and all participants were able to perform the counts and predictably elevate the sinus floor. Thanks to this course, I can now confidently place implants guided by the OneCAS KIT and perform sinus elevation simultaneously, without stress.”
When asked about her impression of the Osstem World Meeting, Dr Gendviliene shared: “The event was well organised, and I enjoyed the exhibition a lot. I’m looking forward to new products, especially special pins for stabilising guides and an osseodensification kit that benefits from the OneCAS KIT and features specially designed drills.”
In another session, Dr Brijesh Patel from the US shared his expertise on using Osstem’s T2 CBCT unit for treatment of the atrophic maxillary sinus. He emphasised how Osstem’s simulation software significantly enhances procedural accuracy by providing clear images of bone and soft tissue, including the maxillary sinus mucosa.
Dr Łukasz Zadrożny from Poland showcased the efficiency of 3D printing in dental procedures. His demonstration of printing temporary crowns and abutments highlighted how 3D-printing technology can facilitate same-day prosthesis production, offering a practical solution for smaller dental clinics with limited staff. Commenting on his participation at the congress, he said, “The Osstem World Meeting was a great opportunity to meet course directors and friends from all over the world and to network. I enjoyed all the interaction with an international group of dentists and received good feedback. The hands-on session was well organised with a lot of materials for the practical parts. For me, it was an important event and gave me the opportunity to present Osstem presets for automatic planning of implant guided surgeries. I developed these convenient presets to help dentists in appropriate planning of implant surgeries with Osstem implants.”
Expert lectures and real-world applications
The second day of the meeting featured expert lectures focusing on the latest digital solutions in implantology and took place at the COEX conference and exhibition centre. Dr Varo Boyer from the US discussed achieving immediacy in implant treatments using Osstem’s advanced digital equipment. His insights on utilising the company’s T2 Plus CBCT unit to determine bone density and select appropriate drill diameters and lengths provided valuable guidance on enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Dr Marco Tallarico from Italy presented on integrating analogue and digital techniques for implant treatment in the aesthetic maxillary region. His lecture resonated deeply with attendees, especially his realistic approach to achieving immediacy in implant treatment, a goal that many clinicians strive for.
Comprehensive product exhibition
Complementing the academic sessions, the event featured a comprehensive exhibition showcasing over 10,000 products, including implant systems, orthodontics, pharmaceuticals and digital medical equipment. Interactive zones allowed hands-on experiences with innovative products like the OneGuide KIT and MAJESTY orthodontic solutions.
Cultural extravaganza
The cultural aspect of the event was equally impressive, providing a memorable experience for all participants. Attendees enjoyed captivating performances by popular K-pop groups and traditional Korean artists. Performances by girl group STAYC and singer Seomoon Tak received high praise.
Access to the lecture programme
For those who missed the live sessions, all of the lectures presented at the 2024 Osstem World Meeting in Seoul are available on Osstem’s YouTube channel, featuring the original 9-hour on-site broadcast footage. For those requiring interpretation into Chinese, Japanese, Russian and English, DenALL TV or Osstem’s respective branches can be contacted for assistance.
Looking ahead, Osstem is already preparing for the 2025 Osstem World Meeting in Da Nang in Vietnam and the 2026 meeting in New York in the US.
