BASEL, Switzerland: Straumann Group has recently announced new partnerships to reshape its orthodontics business around ClearCorrect, combining technology collaboration with changes to its production footprint and commercial focus. The company has entered a strategic technology partnership with Smartee Denti-Technology, a leading provider of aligners and digital orthodontic solutions in China, to co-develop a next-generation orthodontics platform and improve aligner profitability. Additionally, it has expanded its collaboration with health technology company DentalMonitoring to integrate remote monitoring into the ClearCorrect workflow.

Under the Smartee agreement, aligner manufacturing for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region as well as for the Asia-Pacific region will be transferred to Smartee’s facilities. Straumann plans to stop ClearCorrect production in Markkleeberg in Germany by early 2026, but CAD/CAM activities at the site will continue.

Straumann has held a minority stake in DentalMonitoring since 2018. The first integrated solution—ClearCorrect RemoteCare powered by DentalMonitoring—is scheduled for a pilot launch at the end of 2025, and a global rollout is planned for 2026. Straumann also confirmed that it has taken a single-digit equity stake in Smartee under the terms of the agreement.

As part of a focused commercial strategy, ClearCorrect will prioritise high-growth markets and expand its focus on general practitioners and dental support organisations while maintaining service to orthodontists. The brand’s digital workflow is being broadened beyond aligners to include complementary solutions such as the Straumann SIRIOS intra-oral scanner, alongside investments in treatment planning. Additionally, ClearCorrect is strengthening its support network with regional care teams, a new planning centre in Poland and expanded operations in Costa Rica.

Guillaume Daniellot, CEO of Straumann Group, said in a press release: “We are entering an exciting chapter in the transformation of our orthodontics business.” He continued: “By working with these innovative partners, we can accelerate innovation, enhance clinician and patient experience, and drive cost-efficiency.”

Florian Kirsch, head of integrated dental technologies at Straumann Group, commented in a press release: “We are proud to join forces with a strong global partner like Smartee. Together we will accelerate innovation in orthodontics and build a platform that makes high-quality, predictable treatment more accessible to doctors and patients worldwide.”

Junfeng Yao, founder, president and CEO of Smartee, concluded: “The strategic collaboration between Smartee and Straumann Group represents not only a strong commercial alliance built on complementary strengths but also a forward-looking initiative aimed at shaping the future of the dental industry.”
