CHICAGO, US: The 160th Chicago Dental Society (CDS) Midwinter Meeting is in full swing at the McCormick Place West Building in Chicago, welcoming dental professionals from around the world. Running until Saturday, this year’s meeting promises an extensive line-up of continuing education, hands-on workshops, networking events and an exhibition floor showcasing the latest in dental innovation.
The scientific programme is packed. Over 155 experts will be covering a wide range of topics, such as artificial intelligence, lasers in dentistry, sleep medicine and surgical techniques.
“There will be more than 250 courses, including 46 hands-on workshops and 34 free courses, offered at the 2025 Midwinter Meeting. We want every attendee to be able to take advantage of the scientific programme so that they can attend courses that equip them with knowledge and skills that they can take back to the office and share with their team and use to subsequently improve their practice,” CDS President Dr Denise Hale told Dental Tribune International in an interview in December last year.

“The Midwinter Meeting is a must-experience event for every dental professional, and the energy of the event is inspirational. There is nowhere else where one can find hundreds of top-tier continuing education courses, networking opportunities with tens of thousands of peers and more than 450 companies debuting their latest innovations—all in one convenient location,” she continued.
The programme for today offers numerous networking opportunities, such as the Dental Student Reception and the Early Career & New Dentist Reception, both providing a relaxed setting for professional connections. A new exhibition feature this year, the Dental Innovation Lab (Booth 1743), provides a dedicated space for exploring the latest advancements in dental technology and practice solutions. Today’s highlights also include the keynote session by visionary chef Grant Achatz, who will share his powerful story of overcoming Stage IV tongue cancer (at 16:30–17:30).
Tomorrow, attendees can look forward to the popular Sips, Suds & Sales event, where they can enjoy refreshments while exploring the exhibition floor for great deals. Tomorrow will also mark a special anniversary: Hadley the Hound, the CDS mascot, is celebrating his tenth birthday with a gathering at the Experience CDS booth (3608) at 15:15.
On Saturday, the second annual Great Oral Health Pitch returns, offering a platform for innovators and entrepreneurs to present their ideas in a dynamic competition. Running from 9:00 to 12:00, this event is designed to foster innovation in oral healthcare, and industry experts will provide invaluable feedback to participants.
