ZURICH, Switzerland: Getting to know your tools as well as possible is important for anyone who wants to master his or her craft. In the field of dentistry there is much to master and so too in the field of dental hygiene. In a free Dental Tribune Study Club webinar on Thursday, 17 October, webinar host Joyce van der Horst will be sharing her thoughts about the experience which she has gained during her 17 years of practising and teaching dental hygiene.
Van der Horst studied general health sciences and medical anthropology at the University of Amsterdam and has been a dental hygienist since 2004. She worked as a teacher in dental hygiene at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 2007 until 2011 and has shared some of her experiences with enthusiastic listeners from around the world. In this free webinar, she will be focusing on different air polishing powders and how she learnt to use and later master them.
Currently employed as a dental hygienist at a cosmetic dental practice, Van der Horst also works in the clinic of the Department of Oral Implantology at the Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde Amsterdam [academic centre for dentistry Amsterdam], where she focuses on the prevention of peri-implant mucositis and on the non-surgical treatment of peri-implantitis and peri-implant mucositis. She is also a dental hygiene instructor at the applied university of dental hygiene in Amsterdam and has given multiple workshops in the Netherlands and abroad.
The 1-hour webinar, titled “My journey from glycine to erythritol”, will be broadcast live on Thursday, 17 October, at 1 p.m.EST. Attendance is free of charge after easy registration on the website. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic.
