The Astra Tech Implant System just got even better—with the new Astra Tech Implant EV. There have been over 1,000 published scientific references to the system in peer-reviewed journals, and as one of the most well-documented implant systems on the market today, it continues to evolve and provide great clinical benefits.

In fact, the revised implant design change of the Astra Tech Implant EV comes with significant advantages: with a deeper implant thread design apically, it is easier to reach preferred primary stability, and the handling experience is enhanced for easy installation.

Dr. Marco Toia, from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine in the Faculty of Odontology at Malmö University in Sweden, explained: “I feel more confident with the Astra Tech Implant EV because the apex engages perfectly in the osteotomy. The new BoneShield titanium membrane offers high mechanical stability and excellent biocompatibility, while allowing diffusion of nutrients through unique micropores. The membrane provides 3D stability. Firstly, the smooth titanium surface reduces the adhesion of plaque and bacteria.^1–3 Secondly, for ultrathin pliability, the 20 μm profile makes it possible to easily contour and mold the titanium membrane without losing mechanical stability. Thirdly, with its unique micropores, the membrane allows the diffusion of oxygen and enables immune cells to pass through it.^{1, 2}

The enhanced rigidity and superior long-term structural support make BoneShield titanium membranes particularly suitable for procedures such as ridge preservation, sinus elevation and lateral augmentation or for use where there are large bone defects.^{1, 4} The membranes come in three shapes and sizes: oval (20/15 mm), triangular (21/17 mm) and rectangular (33/25 mm).
