GENEVA, Switzerland: Every year on 20 March, people around the globe unite to celebrate World Oral Health Day (WOHD) and put the spotlight on the immense burden caused by oral disease. The campaign is entering the final year of the three-year “Be proud of your mouth” theme. It is estimated that oral disease affects nearly 3.5 billion people, having an impact on their well-being and quality of life. The WOHD campaign emphasises that maintaining a healthy mouth at all ages is an essential part of overall health, and therefore, it calls upon people to look after their oral health for a lifetime of smiles.
Get involved and celebrate World Oral Health Day with millions across the world
FDI believes everyone can help address the oral disease burden by celebrating WOHD and sharing the campaign’s ready-made and customisable resources, including action toolkits, fact sheets, key message cards, advertisements, custom posters and frames, in order to raise awareness of the importance of taking care of oral health at all stages of life.
Another way to participate is to take part in the newly started #MouthProudChallenge, which motivates individuals to join the online campaign movement by utilising the campaign’s online polaroid tool or Instagram and Facebook filters in order to share a message about their mouth and what it means to them.
After all, a healthy mouth means being able to appreciate everyday aspects of life, such as enjoying a meal, talking to a neighbour, laughing with family and friends, singing for fun, kissing loved ones and feeling great.
This WOHD, be proud of your mouth for a lifetime of smiles, and inspire others to do the same.
More information on WOHD, the campaign’s resources, the #MouthProudChallenge and the online polaroid tool can be found at www.worldoralhealthday.org.
