SCHAAN, Liechtensein: Adequate moisture control and unobstructed access to the treatment area are essential requirements for successful dental treatments. In order to address these needs, Ivoclar has introduced OptraGate Dry Control, a saliva and liquid ejector with an integrated tongue retractor designed to facilitate relative isolation and provide clear access to the treatment area. When used in combination with the company’s OptraGate 2 latex-free lip retractor, the device supports efficient workflows in restorative treatments and dental hygiene procedures.

OptraGate Dry Control supports patient comfort and safety by keeping the tongue protected and maintaining a dry treatment area.

The device offers 270-degree suction coverage through multiple suction openings, ensuring effective moisture control across a wide area and helping maintain a consistently dry treatment field. At the same time, the integrated tongue retractor keeps the tongue away from the operative site, reducing the risk of accidental contact with rotating instruments. This design supports a safe treatment environment and improves access to the treatment area, particularly in posterior regions.

Self-retaining design for streamlined procedures

OptraGate Dry Control features an ergonomic, self-retaining design that allows easy placement in the lower jaw and maintains a stable position. This supports efficient workflows during procedures performed without chairside assistance.

Dr Dan Lazăr, an expert in aesthetic dentistry from Romania, confirmed: “OptraGate Dry Control protects the tongue and delivers reliable suction performance. Thanks to its self-retaining design, it stays firmly in place, letting me work more comfortably and stay focused without constant readjustments.”

The intuitive design allows for immediate use and straightforward integration into existing clinical workflows. Customisable fitting options help ensure a secure fit and comfortable wear, even during longer procedures.

When used together with OptraGate 2, OptraGate Dry Control helps create optimal conditions for relative isolation by combining lip retraction, tongue protection and effective moisture control.

Combination with OptraGate 2 for relative isolation

When used in combination with OptraGate 2, OptraGate Dry Control supports effective relative isolation. The combination of wide suction coverage, integrated tongue retraction, and lip and cheek retraction helps maintain a clean and dry treatment field.

This approach can offer advantages particularly in adhesive dentistry. OptraGate Dry Control is suitable for a broad range of clinical applications, including dental examinations, tooth preparations, direct restorative procedures and the placement of indirect restorations. By supporting efficient moisture control and improved access, the device is intended to enhance treatment efficiency and expand Ivoclar’s portfolio of practice-oriented dental solutions.
