Advancing dental 3D printing: Expanding treatment possibilities for clinicians

The four hands-on courses scheduled for the first day of the meeting were fully booked as early as January. Owing to the limited seats and the hands-on guidance provided by experienced instructors, these courses sell out quickly every year. On the second day, Dr Varo Boyer, an implant dentist from the US, will introduce OneArch X as a solution for the growing number of edentulous patients. OneArch X involves the placement of four to five implants and their restoration with a prosthesis with a 3D-printed metal framework. Compared with overdentures, this approach streamlines the fabrication of full-arch prostheses, minimises the need for bone grafting and significantly reduces treatment time. Dr Ieva Gendvilienė, an associate professor at Vilnius University in Lithuania, will discuss the latest advancements in dental 3D-printing technology, focusing on patient-specific bioprinted scaffolds for bone regeneration. She will highlight cases where vertical bone augmentation using Osstem Implant’s OssMem or OssBuilder alone may not be sufficient and explore the benefits of customised regenerative solutions.

OneGuide enables implant placement in bone defects, infected areas and the maxillary sinus

Osstem Implant’s OneGuide surgery system enables precise drilling while accounting for potential areas of bone loss. According to Osstem Implant, the total number of implants placed using OneGuide globally has surpassed 1.09 million across 550,000 cases.

In his lecture, Dr Park Chang-Joo, professor of dentistry at Hanyang University in Seoul, will underscore the importance of preoperative diagnostics for accurately assessing the size and shape of bone defects to allow preparation of the necessary bone grafting materials and membranes in advance, ensuring more predictable outcomes. He will showcase clinical cases treated with Osstem Implant’s A-Oss Collagen, a mineralised bovine bone grafting material enhanced with collagen for superior volume stability and reduced particle movement.

Dr Azeem Sheikh, an experienced implant dentist from Canada, will present clinical cases to demonstrate how OneGuide effectively reduces the number of surgical sessions and overall treatment duration, even in cases involving severe bone defects or infections. Dr Kim Yong-Jin, a South Korean dentist with expertise in implant dentistry, will conduct a live surgery demonstrating immediate loading for full-arch reconstruction with OneGuide. After this, Dr Jaime Guimarães, an established oral surgeon from Portugal, will discuss challenges and solutions in full-arch rehabilitation, emphasising the role of intra-oral scanning and CAD/CAM technology in designing and fabricating customised prostheses. Dr Võ Văn Nhân, a prominent implant dentist from Vietnam, will deliver a lecture on safe maxillary sinus augmentation using core drills and digital technology.

In addition to the lecture programme, attendees will be treated to a gala dinner and the Osstem World Night performance, providing a comfortable and enjoyable networking environment. All event sessions will feature simultaneous interpretation into English, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, Turkish and Japanese. Additionally, the sessions on the second day will be livestreamed on Osstem Implant’s global YouTube channel and will be available in English and Chinese.
