HELSINKI, Finland: When it comes to intra-oral scanning, a smooth workflow and ease of use are top priority. With this in mind, a new collaboration between Planmeca and orthodontic manufacturer Ortoplus now allows practitioners who use the Planmeca Emerald scanner to send scans directly to Ortoplus for the design and manufacture of orthodontic appliances. The new partnership is intended to save time for both dentist and patient alike.

Speaking about the new collaboration, Ana Fernández, research and development director at Ortoplus Group, said: “We tested and evaluated the Planmeca Emerald intraoral scanner by taking impressions. I have to say that we were impressed by the ease of use, high resolution and quick results, and especially by its precision. This solution allows for a 100% digital manufacturing process. This in turn means more efficient and more accurate treatments, as well as shorter delivery times. It is for sure one of the best intraoral scanners on the market!”

The collaboration between Planmeca and Ortoplus now ensures that the company’s wide range of orthodontic solutions is within the reach of Planmeca Emerald users—something Ville Salonen, Manager of Planmeca’s Orthodontic Product Line and Business Development, said the Planmeca Group is “very happy about”.

“It’s all about making the orthodontic workflow as smooth as possible. By using our digital intraoral scanner and simply sending the open STL files to the Ortoplus headquarters, a lot of valuable time can be saved, not to mention that patients will enjoy the speed and comfort of digital scanning,” said Salonen.

Ortoplus is one of the largest orthodontic and digital laboratories in Europe. According to the company, it has manufactured more than 350,000 orthodontic appliances in its 25 years and is present in over 45 countries.
