PARIS, France: This year’s ADF congress will be hosted under the theme of “Dental care, the commitment that unites us” and take place from 27 November to 1 December at the Palais des Congrès de Paris. The theme reflects the scientific, societal and political commitment of professionals in the dental industry.

Bringing together some of the most well-regarded speakers across a range of disciplines, ADF is a meeting place for dental professionals to exchange ideas and be informed on the latest innovations and techniques. It is also an opportunity for dental professionals to align themselves with industry standards, and the event organisers seek to create a more unified industry across the spectrum.

Dr Michel Pompignoli, chairman of the ADF congress, believes this year’s theme addresses the common goal of all dental professionals. “First of all, it reminds us that we are practitioners who treat patients with the best technologies available today. We want practitioners to feel invested in their vocation and have a sense of unity, while maintaining their independence in the way they practise. This commitment implies relationships between people is the true responsibility of society.”

The well-being of patients is paramount, but the same too can be said of practitioners themselves. With an increase in work-related stress, fear of litigation, financial constraints, increased demands from patients and even social media pressure, there is a greater need for dentists to consider their own health too. With each session of the scientific programme to recall the overarching theme, the goal is to create a feeling that the profession bears a collective responsibility, therefore hopefully taking some of the pressure off the individual.

“It is a question of proposing together a new pact between dentists and their patients, for excellent oral health,” said Pompignoli.
