SINGAPORE: The Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) Congress (AOSC) has recently celebrated a successful return to its in-person event since the pandemic. The congress took place from 17 to 19 February at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore and was followed by post-congress workshops on 20 February. The event drew 707 attendees from 37 countries, again reaffirming its reputation as the go-to event for orthodontists in the Asia Pacific region.

“We are delighted with the outcome of AOSC 2023. The congress was designed to provide delegates with opportunities to learn, explore and network in an enriching environment. As we look back at the event’s success, we extend our gratitude to all our attendees, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors and look forward to providing more opportunities for dental professionals to reconnect in the future. We are pleased to know that AOSC 2023 was an event worth smiling over,” said Dr Koo Chieh Shen, chairperson of AOSC 2023.

AOSC provided a platform for orthodontists, researchers and industry experts to learn from one another and share their expertise. The event included a wide range of educational and enrichment opportunities, including keynote speeches, panel discussions and scientific poster presentations. The scientific programme featured 21 sessions, including post-congress workshops.

A highlight of the event was the AOSC scientific poster competition, in which 38 posters were presented and ten finalists shortlisted for judging. The trade exhibition featured 17 companies and over 100 exhibiting brands showcasing the latest trends, clinical products and innovations in the orthodontic industry.

“As an exhibitor at AOSC, we were thrilled to see the return of in-person events and the opportunity to connect with orthodontic professionals from around the world,” said Vida Lau, South East Asia commercial director at Straumann Group. “The enthusiasm from attendees was infectious, and we were able to make valuable connections while showcasing our latest products,” she added.

Attendees of AOSC were also able to participate in fun and engaging social events, including the welcome reception, which provided ample opportunities for attendees to network and relax.

“AOSC was an excellent event that provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge among dental professionals. We were thrilled to see the high level of engagement and participation by the delegates. This is a testament to the importance of continuing dental education. We also had a great opportunity to network with fellow professionals after a lapse of four years. This event augurs well for our profession and we look forward to the next edition of AOSC in 2025,” said Dr Bryce Lee, president of the AOS.
