BARCELONA, Spain: In June, more than 300 delegates gathered at the W Barcelona hotel for the largest edition to date of DentalForum UK, the annual networking event for leaders and innovators in the British dental industry. The forum brought together around 60 leading dental support organisations from across the UK and a broad range of suppliers, including providers of clinical equipment, software solutions and business services.
The agenda of the two-day event featured a mix of keynote presentations, informal networking and DentalForum’s signature one-to-one speed meetings, scheduled to match delegates’ interests. Sam Waley-Cohen, founder and chairman of dental care group PortmanDentex, chaired the conference, which included a fireside chat between Zak Smith, non-executive director of the Labyrinth dental laboratory group, and Jeffrey Tomcsik, CEO of Grand Dental Group in Chicago in the US, who shared insights on scaling and selling dental businesses.
Other highlights included a presentation by healthcare operations software provider Agilio Software and a market update from expert dental consultancy Dental Elite. On the second day, Waley-Cohen and Tomcsik were joined by Dr Dev Patel, founder and CEO of Dental Beauty Partners dental group, for an open discussion on growth and clinician incentivisation strategies. Additionally, Straumann Group led an engaging session on building strategic partnerships.
The forum concluded with a 1970s-themed celebration hosted by DEXIS and Nobel Biocare.

Set against the beachfront backdrop of the W Barcelona hotel, the event featured ample opportunities for informal networking, including lunches and receptions.
DentalForum is now turning its attention to its autumn event, scheduled to take place on 15–17 September in Dallas in the US. The event will bring together 50 leading American dental support organisations and other key industry participants. More information about the upcoming event is available at www.openroomevents.com.
