BREA, Calif., US: Having divested its KaVo treatment unit and instrument business, Envista announced last week that its imaging segment will now be rebranded from KaVo to DEXIS. Headquartered in the US, the brand will represent the company’s complete portfolio of imaging and digital solutions worldwide.
Present in over 50 countries today, DEXIS has already existed for two decades as a leading brand for digital intra-oral radiography and diagnostic software, combining major dental imaging brands such as Gendex, i-CAT, Instrumentarium, NOMAD and SOREDEX. According to Envista, it has one of the largest installed bases of dental imaging devices in the industry—over 150,000 imaging devices in current use in dental practices.
Envista’s CEO, Amir Aghdaei, commented on the announcement, saying: “This is one step in our continued efforts to create integrated, digital workflows that connect all our products and enable dental professionals to treat and improve more patient lives. We are living out our strategy to digitise, personalise, and democratise dentistry and look forward to the future.”
In September 2021, Envista first announced that it had entered into a binding agreement to sell its KaVo treatment unit and instrument business to Planmeca, one of the largest privately owned manufacturers in the dental field. As part of the agreement, Envista retained the imaging segment of its business, utilising the KaVo brand for certain products. As reported by Dental Tribune International, the transaction was closed in early January.
