MELVILLE, N.Y., U.S.: Henry Schein, one of the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental and medical practitioners, recently held its annual “Back to School” program. At locations across the U.S., Canada, Ireland, the U.K. and Spain, the company donated backpacks and school supplies to nearly 5,000 children.

Since the inauguration of the program in 1998, the company has provided school equipment and supplies for more than 50,000 children as part of Henry Schein Cares, its global corporate social responsibility scheme. At many of this year’s locations, children who participated were given books and hygiene products donated by the company.

As part of the program, an event at the Henry Schein headquarters in Melville was held for approximately 600 school-aged children and their families. There, children not only received new clothes and school supplies but were also able to enjoy a range of games, craft opportunities and other activities alongside dinner.

“Team Schein looks forward to the ‘Back to School’ program every year because it gives us an opportunity to give back to our community and help these amazing kids start another successful school year,” said Gerry Benjamin, an executive vice president and Chief Administrative Officer of Henry Schein.

“It’s incredible to think that the ‘Back to School’ program is more than 20 years old, but I believe I speak for all of Team Schein when I say our commitment to this program and these families grows stronger every year,” Benjamin added.
