On 17 October, the DT Study Club will host the Implants Symposium, a free-of-charge online event dedicated to the latest developments in oral implantology. The event is part of a new series of online educational events focused on key areas of dental specialisation, and the programme will feature expert-led sessions covering surgical techniques, prosthetic solutions, biomaterials and digital workflows.

The symposium offers specialists in implantology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontics and prosthodontics the opportunity to update their knowledge with the latest scientific findings and practical clinical strategies. The virtual format brings together international experts and provides a platform to share insights that can enhance treatment outcomes.

One of the speakers is Dr Lawrence E. Brecht, adjunct associate clinical professor of prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry in the US. In his presentation, he will review the development of reconstructive approaches and highlight how digital planning and a team-based approach can achieve immediate, aesthetic and functional implant-supported rehabilitation in complex cases.

Dr Michael R. Norton, a specialist in oral surgery and adjunct professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in the US, will examine the limits of insertion torque, demonstrate the interpretive value of resonance frequency analysis and implant stability quotient (ISQ) readings, and show how ISQ provides guidance for immediate loading protocols.

Furthermore, Dr Krzysztof Chmielewski, Polish implantology specialist with a focus on bone regeneration and aesthetic treatment, will discuss strategies for alveolar ridge preservation. He will outline how magnesium-based solutions such as NOVAMag SHIELD from botiss biomaterials provide resorbable support for predictable bone regeneration, eliminating the need for removal while maintaining long-term stability.

Oral rehabilitation experts Dr David Trujillo and Giulio Bianchini will concentrate on biomaterials for regenerative dentistry. Their lecture will examine how material selection affects regenerative outcomes, with a focus on resorbable membranes, bone grafting techniques and surgical planning. Case studies will demonstrate how advances in biomaterials, such as low-thermal bone grafts, contribute to predictable and long-term success in regenerative procedures.

Dr Estanislao Planas, a specialist in advanced aesthetic dentistry from Spain, will demonstrate how a fully digital approach—from case planning and guided surgery to immediate loading and final prosthesis delivery—enhances precision, efficiency and patient satisfaction in full-arch rehabilitations.

Additional sessions will be announced shortly, further broadening the scope of topics covered in the programme.

The symposium is free of charge, but registration in advance is required. Participants can obtain one continuing education credit per session attended by completing the lecture and the related online evaluation.

Registration is still open at www.dtstudyclub.com.
