NEW YORK, U.S.: The Oral Reconstruction Foundation has announced the cancellation of its global symposium, which was originally scheduled to take place in New York City this week and later postponed to 2021 owing to the COVID-19 outbreak. As the coronavirus pandemic progresses, the foundation said that it did not see any possibility of hosting the event this or next year in New York. It will only take place in 2022.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Oral Reconstruction Global Symposium,” said Dr. Alex Schär, CEO of and a member of the board of directors of the Oral Reconstruction Foundation. “The Oral Reconstruction Foundation was looking forward to its global symposium and to meet with professionals from around the world, but in view of the uncertainties COVID-19 might still provide in one year from now, it did not seem feasible to continue with our plans. As a result, we have made the decision to move the symposium to 2022.”

On its website, the foundation advised that participants will receive a full refund on their registration fees. Furthermore, the organizers stated that the 2022 event will not take place in New York and that they are currently working on an alternative location.

The foundation will provide more information about the symposium at www.orfoundation.org/globalsymposium.
