CHIA, Sardinia, Italy: At this year’s international congress of the Italian Dental Association (AIO), microscopes and the digitalisation of dentistry will be the main focus. Featuring some of Italy’s most recognisable faces in the dental industry, as well as international speakers, hands-on courses and more, this tenth edition is sure to not only inform but also inspire. To be held at the Chia resort, on the island of Sardinia, from 13 to 15 June, the congress has been well planned to cover both of this year’s overarching themes, according to the organisers.

The microscope sessions will include presentations by Dr Alfredo Iandolo from the University of Naples Federico II, who is also a member of the Italian Society of Endodontics and part of its 3-D cleaning project. Additionally, co-founder of the Microscopic Dental Club Dr Maurizio Signorini, Dr Alessio Gini, and member of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry Dr Jorge Zapata will be presenting lectures.

At the digital dental sessions, organised in collaboration with the Digital Dentistry Society and headed by its president, Dr Henriette Lerner, the many guest lecturers include Drs Carlo Mangano, Francesco Mangano, Fabrizia Luongo and Giuseppe Luongo from the Academy of Osseointegration and author of the book Digital Implantology.

In addition to the lectures, hands-on workshop sessions will be given throughout the congress. Drs Alessandro and Andrea Agnini will be focusing on digitally integrated workflows based on their years of combined experience in digital dentistry. Dr Mario Imburgia, visiting professor at the City of London Dental School and BPP University in the UK and author of the book IPad for dentistry: Digital Communication for the Patient and the Dental Team, and Luca and Matteo Dondi will also be presenting workshops.

With symposiums and lectures to be held in or simultaneously interpreted into English and offering continuing education credits from a provider recognised by the American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program, the congress organisers hope to fruitfully engage attendees from around the world with three full days of learning and enjoyment.
