Walmart begins its move into dental care with Walmart Health

DALLAS, Ga., U.S.: Walmart, the world’s largest company by revenue, has recently launched its first health clinic. The retail giant held a grand opening of the Walmart Health center on Sept. 13. The new center has been designed to provide a range of medical services, including dental check-ups.

The medical center is in a separate building next door to a Walmart supermarket in Georgia and represents a continuation of the company’s foray into the health care industry. Since 2014, Walmart has launched 19 Care Clinics in Georgia, Texas and South Carolina. These clinics are staffed by nurses who provide advice and guidance to patients regarding the management of chronic diseases, as well as routine care procedures like immunizations.

“Over the last year, our team has considered how to turn ‘live better’ into also meaning ‘live healthier’ while delivering moments of care to all our customers,” said Sean Slovenski, Senior Vice President and President of Health and Wellness at Walmart, in a statement on the day the Walmart Health center opened.

“This morning, we opened our first-ever Walmart Health center in Dallas, Georgia, working with partners to provide key services such as primary care, labs, X-ray and EKG, counseling, dental, optical, hearing and community health education all at low, transparent pricing, regardless of customers’ insurance status—the first time all these services are in one facility,” Slovenski continued.

The company has already announced that it will be opening a second Walmart Health center in Calhoun, Georgia, early next year.
