LONDON, UK: According to a new report from data and analytics company GlobalData, the global dental implant market is expected to reach US$5.9 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.9 per cent expected between 2018 and 2028.
The report, titled Dental Implant Devices, Global Outlook, 2015–2028, reveals that Asia Pacific will be one of the fastest growing regions, with North America and South America following closely. Market growth over this period will be fairly strong despite low global penetration of dental implants. In most countries, dental procedures are out-of-pocket expenses, but improved reimbursement policies have stimulated high growth, especially in South Korea.
Sarah Janer, medical device analyst at GlobalData, commented, “The titanium implant segment will continue to grow strongly due to the material’s biocompatibility, strength, versatility and cost. […] There is a large potential patient pool for dental implant procedures due to the high prevalence of periodontal disease in the global population. Growth in this market is due to the increasingly educated patient population that seek treatment, and the growth of emerging economies.”
