Straumann Campus provides dental professionals with a myriad of webinars with a focus on implant dentistry and orthodontics. In the coming weeks, the online educational platform will offer four webinars, presented by international speakers, on how to select the right abutment for different clinical situations, on immediate implant placement in the molar area, on how to incorporate clear aligners into a comprehensive treatment plan, and on why immediate implant placement and provisionalisation can simplify treatments.
According to speaker Dr Chatchai Kunvisarut, dentists used to have several options for abutment selection, which caused some confusion. However, since the rise of digital technology, abutment selection can be narrowed down to two main options: custom abutments and titanium-base abutments. In an upcoming webinar, Kunvisarut, who is acting vice president for student affairs and alumni at Mahidol University in Thailand, will discuss the advantages and the disadvantages of these two abutment types. Participants will learn about the indications for each abutment and what complications can possibly occur.
The 1-hour webinar, titled “Implant abutment selection in the digital era”, will be broadcast live on Friday, 17 April, at 8 a.m. CEST.
Molars as a special challenge
In this webinar, Dr Algirdas Puisys will explain how to perform an immediate implant placement after tooth extraction in the molar area. According to him, this is a demanding procedure, even with all the high technology available today. Puisys works at the Vilniaus implantologijos centro klinika (Vilnius implantology centre clinic) in Lithuania and will discuss 3D positioning of the implant, individualised healing abutments, the influence of the implant design, as well as implementing CAD/CAM and bone augmentation.
The live webinar, titled “Crestal bone stability after immediate implant placement in molars”, will be broadcast on Wednesday, 29 April, at 4 p.m. CEST.
ClearCorrect in complex cases
Dr Sam Koh will explain how clear aligners can be incorporated into the treatment plans of dental practices and will focus on the align, bleach and bond minimally invasive techniques.
In this online class, dental professionals will learn how to start expanding the use of clear aligners beyond simple alignment cases and will understand the role of clear aligners within the concept of minimally invasive and multidisciplinary dentistry, particularly regarding the align, bleach and bond protocol. Koh, a Melbourne-based dentist, who is also the co-founder of the Young Dentist Hub in Australia, will furthermore present several clinical applications and examples in which ClearCorrect has been used for more complex cases.
Koh’s 1-hour webinar, titled “Taking the next step with clear aligners—The potentials beyond simple alignment”, will be broadcast live on Thursday, 30 April, at 10 a.m. CEST.
The evolution and benefits of IIPP
In contrast to the situation less than a decade ago, immediate implant placement and provisionalisation (IIPP) is now widely accepted as one of the techniques that is essential for ensuring optimal aesthetics in the anterior zone. Even though achieving excellent aesthetics with implants in the anterior zone is expected, it often leads to multiple grafting procedures at a high cost for patients. Therefore, this webinar by Dr Jeanette Chua will demonstrate how IIPP can simplify treatments and reduce the number of surgical procedures. In addition, Chua, who is a visiting faculty member for the periodontal postgraduate residence of the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, will explain the evolution of IIPP and how this treatment modality has by now been documented as one that provides optimal preservation of soft and hard tissue. Webinar viewers will learn about the benefits and pitfalls of this practice and will understand the factors that need to be considered for IIPP, supported by current scientific evidence.
Dental professionals can watch the 1-hour webinar, titled “Relentless perfection in the esthetic zone—The evolution of immediate implant placement and provisionalization”, live on Saturday, 2 May, at 7 a.m. CEST.
Attendance of all webinars is free of charge after easy registration online on the Straumann Campus. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit for each webinar by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic.
