MÄDER, Austria: Amann Girrbach, a pioneer and leading innovator in dental CAD/CAM technology, has announced the launch of Zolid Lunaris, a new zirconia material that expands the company’s established Zolid portfolio. The material combines high translucency with intensified chromatic colouring to support aesthetic results while keeping workflows efficient in both laboratories and practices.
Zolid Lunaris is a multilayer zirconia featuring intense A–D shades and is intended for all fixed restoration types. With a flexural strength of 1,000 MPa, it is positioned for a broad range of indications while aiming to reduce time spent on finishing. According to Amann Girrbach, the intensified colouring is designed to reflect current market trends and simplify the finishing process by reducing post-processing steps.
Zolid Lunaris restorations combine intensified chroma and high translucency to support shade consistency and reduce reworking.
High-speed sintering allows restorations to be sintered in 15 minutes for maximum efficiency. Zolid Lunaris is available in a portfolio that includes disc heights from 12 to 30 mm, 16 A–D shades and five bleach shades. Manufactured in Austria, it is supported by Amann Girrbach’s established quality standards and service offering. Within the Zolid range, the company positions Zolid Lunaris as a performance-oriented complement to Zolid Bion, which it describes as primarily focused on aesthetics.
According to Melanie Roeschmann, senior product manager consumables at Amann Girrbach, Zolid Lunaris was developed in response to evolving customer demands. “Customer demands are changing—and that’s exactly what drives us to continuously improve our products. Zolid Lunaris sets a new benchmark: its intensified colouring minimises time-consuming steps while achieving an even more accurate match to the Vita Shade Guide. The successor to Zolid Gen-X delivers Amann Girrbach’s premium quality combined with outstanding value,” she said.
Axel Reichert, senior manager for research and development of materials at Amann Girrbach, highlighted the efficiency gains enabled by the material. “Zolid Lunaris takes high-speed sintering to the next level: crowns and up to three-unit bridges can be sintered in just 15 minutes with the Therm DRS, without compromising outstanding material properties. It makes the workflow exceptionally easy and economical,” he stated.
Zolid Lunaris was developed by dental experts for dental experts, with a focus on reliable processing in both laboratory and clinical environments. Its balanced white density supports precise milling and helps protect tools, while an individually calculated shrinkage factor is determined to ensure accurate fit. In combination with Amann Girrbach’s Motion Air milling unit, the material is positioned as part of an integrated workflow solution. Zolid Lunaris is supplied in a standard 98 mm disc format, enabling compatibility with a wide range of dental milling machines and supporting flexible production setups.
Dental technician Alain Sakr, one of the founders of Zirconnet, a dental laboratory specialising in zirconia restorations in Romania, emphasised: “Zolid Lunaris delivers impressive aesthetics combined with high strength—a truly compelling product”.
Salvatore Giuseppe Umile, owner and dental technician at Dentek Laboratorio Odontotecnico in Italy, described the material as “a quantum leap in colour precision: the intensified chroma in the cervical area and the perfectly matched incisal area hit the Vita shade scale exactly—a true aesthetic breakthrough!”
