SEOUL, South Korea: Medit, a global digital dentistry company, has launched Realtime Intelligence enhanced scanning worldwide. This software feature is designed to verify intra-oral scan data, tooth preparation and occlusion during the scanning workflow. It is integrated into Medit Link, the company’s digital workflow and case management platform for dental practices and laboratories, and does not require additional hardware.
In conventional digital workflows, the quality and completeness of intra-oral scan data often depend on the operator’s experience, and issues such as missing scan data or inadequate tooth preparation may become apparent only after the patient has left the office. For dental practices, this can require return visits and re-scans, and for laboratories, it can result in remakes, leading to lost chair time, additional costs and workflow delays. Realtime Intelligence is designed to help identify potential issues as they occur, enabling clinicians to submit scan data that has been checked throughout scanning. By flagging areas that may need attention during the scanning workflow, Realtime Intelligence supports more predictable outcomes, reduces workflow interruptions and increases confidence in case submission.
Realtime Intelligence provides real-time verification across three review areas. Scan Review identifies missing or overlapping scan data. Preparation Review evaluates undercuts, reduction depth, interproximal space, occlusal clearance and margin clarity. Occlusion Review checks occlusal contact, occlusal balance and occlusal patterns. In addition, Auto HD Image Capture records high-resolution images of prepared teeth from up to five views: occlusal, buccal/labial, lingual/palatal, mesial and distal. The supported indications at launch are crowns and inlays, and further indications are planned. The system presents its analysis results and guidance as suggestions, and the final clinical decision remains with the clinician.

Before the launch, Medit evaluated Realtime Intelligence in clinics worldwide and reported positive survey results on likelihood of continued use, confidence in scan quality, earlier issue detection, and reductions in remakes, re-scans and recalls. “Realtime Intelligence is not a simple feature update but a turning point that redefines the very role of the Medit scanner,” said Han Ryu, CEO of Medit. He emphasised that Medit was the first to bring together clinical reliability, confidence in data quality from the first submission and a stronger clinic–laboratory partnership.
Realtime Intelligence is included at no additional cost with the Medit i900 product line, comprising the i900, i900 classic and i900 Mobility intra-oral scanners. Users of the Medit i700, i700 wireless and i600 scanners can access it via a one-time perpetual licence priced at €2,000, and a complimentary trial is available for these models until 31 December 2026. The Medit i500 scanner is not supported.
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Seoul, Medit provides intra-oral scanners and open software solutions for restorative dentistry, implant dentistry and orthodontics. The company has representatives in the Americas and Europe, a partner network spanning more than 190 countries, and over 100,000 customers worldwide.
