NEW YORK, U.S.: In an upcoming free Dental Tribune Study Club webinar on Wednesday, April 3, an expert will be discussing sinus lift. Webinar host Dr. Dima Cosmin will offer an up-to-date synthesis of the topic based on an international bibliography, detailed clinical cases and his experience of more than 14 years in maxillary sinus surgery.
According to Cosmin, the first part of his lecture will include an examination of the anatomy of the maxillary sinus. The antral cavity limits, the vascularization and innervation of the maxillary sinus, as well as the microscopic structure of the Schneiderian membrane, will all be discussed. Subsequently, a synthesis of sinus pathology will be given, and on the basis of the existing literature, the criteria will be defined by which dentists can decide when and how to treat a sinus with pathology and when not.
Cosmin graduated from the Department of Dentistry at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, in 2001. Since then, he has continued developing professionally and became a certified implantologist in 2004. In 2014, Cosmin received his master’s degree in periodontics, and in 2016, he started his PhD in surgery, specializing in bone regeneration. He is a member of the Society of Esthetic Dentistry in Romania (SSER), the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry (ESCD), the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and the implant prosthetic section of the ICOI. Additionally, Cosmin is the scientific director of the Digital Dentistry Society of Romania.
In recent years, he has participated in many conferences in the field of prosthetic dentistry, esthetics and advanced surgery for ESCD, SSER, the Steigmann Institute, the Turkish Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the Romanian Dental Association for Education and many other important dental associations. He is also a key opinion leader for ACTEON Romania.
The 1-hour webinar, titled “Sinus lifting,” will be broadcast live on Wednesday, April 3, at 1 p.m. EDT. Attendance is free of charge after easy registration on the website. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic.
