Headquartered in Seoul in South Korea, Imagoworks is a world leader in digital dental solutions that employ artificial intelligence (AI). Founded in 2019, the company offers web-based platforms, like Dentbird Solutions, which utilise proprietary 3D CAD and AI technologies to automate dental prosthesis design. These innovations enable dental professionals worldwide to optimise digital treatment workflows without the need for software installation. The company’s solutions are now used in over 110 countries, including major markets like the US, Japan and South Korea. In this interview, Imagoworks CEO Dr Youngjun Kim shares his thoughts about the company’s range of innovative products, as well as what awaits at the 2025 International Dental Show (IDS).

Dr Kim, Imagoworks has been at the forefront of integrating AI into digital dentistry. Could you share how your latest products are enhancing efficiency in dental labs?
Dentbird Solutions is redefining digital dentistry through the integration of AI, cloud computing and CAD technologies. Our products offer full automation for crown, bridge, inlay and onlay design, reducing the need for manual intervention. Advanced AI is leveraged to analyse 3D scan data automatically, detecting abutments, margins and insertion paths to generate precise prosthesis designs. The ability to review and refine AI-generated designs in real time ensures a seamless and intuitive workflow, making high-quality dental protheses more accessible and efficient for technicians of any level of experience. For high-volume dental labs, Dentbird Batch significantly enhances productivity by employing AI to design multiple prostheses simultaneously. Another key advancement introduced by Dentbird Solutions is its AI-as-a-service model, which allows users to access AI-powered automation tools anytime, anywhere.

What new technologies and solutions will Imagoworks be showcasing at IDS 2025, and how do these innovations align with the current trends in digital dentistry?
We are excited to present Dentbird Solutions, our AI-powered CAD solution, and AOX, our AI-driven full-arch prosthesis service, as key highlights at IDS 2025. At the core of Dentbird Solutions is Dentbird Crown, an advanced AI system designed to automatically and precisely generate tooth-supported crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and implant-supported crowns with remarkable speed. In addition, we will introduce a cutting-edge automation solution for digital model design, Dentbird Modeler, setting a new benchmark for innovations in digital workflows. Another major highlight at IDS 2025 will be the premier unveiling of AOX, which utilises a proprietary AI denture solution, revolutionising the design and manufacturing process of prostheses at an unparalleled speed.

Dentbird Crown has been designed for compatibility with platforms such as Medit Link and Shining 3D Dental Cloud, along with various CAM and slicing software programs. This ensures that Dentbird’s AI-generated designs can be processed directly by milling machines and 3D printers, without hardware limitations. By doing so, dental professionals can optimise their existing equipment, build a more efficient same-day treatment workflow, and achieve faster and more reliable prosthesis manufacturing.

Another major highlight at IDS 2025 will be the premier unveiling of AOX, which utilises a proprietary AI denture solution, revolutionising the design and manufacturing process of prostheses at an unparalleled speed.

To overcome the inefficiencies of the traditional clinical workflow, Imagoworks provides an AI-powered prosthesis manufacturing service through AOX, our US subsidiary. By integrating AI-driven automated design technology, digital mass production techniques and an advanced online ordering system, AOX enables high-speed, precision-driven prosthesis manufacturing at a highly competitive price.

Considering the rapid evolution of digital dentistry, where do you see the industry heading in the next five years, and how is Imagoworks positioning itself to lead these advancements?
As the adoption of AI accelerates, it will become increasingly integrated into dental laboratories and treatment workflows, improving precision and expanding the range of automated procedures. To drive this transformation, Imagoworks is focusing on three core strategies.

First, we are advancing AI automation technology to broaden Dentbird’s application across more treatment areas. While Dentbird Solutions and Dentbird Batch have successfully automated the design of crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, we are working to extend their capabilities to custom abutment design.

Second, we are developing a cloud-based AI digital dentistry ecosystem. The future lies in integrated web-hosted solutions that seamlessly connect imaging equipment, CAD software and manufacturing devices. By forging partnerships with leading global technology providers, we aim to create a fully interoperable ecosystem, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow across various platforms and devices.

Third, we are accelerating global market expansion through strategic partnerships. Since entering Japan in 2022, Imagoworks has rapidly expanded in collaboration with Ci Medical. In 2024, we established a US subsidiary in Dallas, and are actively seeking global dealership partners in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Latin America. We look forward to collaborating with our partners to successfully drive the global expansion of Dentbird Solutions and solidify our presence in the AI digital dentistry market.
