SCHAAN, Liechtenstein: On 14 April, media representatives gathered for the first Ivoclar Media Connect event at the new Ivoclar Campus at the company’s headquarters. The event focused on current developments in the dental industry and on the importance of practical education and training in helping practices and laboratories integrate new materials, equipment and digital solutions efficiently into everyday workflows.
Ivoclar, a global dental company with around 3,600 employees, has been developing dental solutions for more than 100 years. Education and training have a long tradition at Ivoclar: as early as the 1950s, the manufacturer carried out the first practical product demonstrations in laboratories. Today, through a network of around 70 Ivoclar and partner academies worldwide, Ivoclar offers training for students and dental professionals. According to the company, around 150,000 people complete Ivoclar hands-on workshops, masterclasses or webinars each year.
Ivoclar CEO Markus Heinz spoke about current challenges in the dental industry.
During the media event, participants gained insights into current training formats. Among other sessions, they observed dentists taking part in a two-day course on Tetric plus, one of the company’s more recent innovations. This reflected Ivoclar’s broader aim of responding to the growing demands of digitalisation, cost pressure and rising patient expectations with user-friendly products and continuous education.
“In the dental industry, we are facing ever more complex challenges. At the same time, new materials and solutions are intended to make life easier for labs and practices,” said Ivoclar CEO Markus Heinz. “We see ourselves as the link between innovation and practical application. This helps reduce complexity and enables our customers to boost productivity without compromising on quality,” Heinz added.
According to Heinz, regional differences also play an important role. “The idea of a single global market no longer applies. We develop our products in close collaboration with local users, ensuring they are tailored to regional needs. Expectations in Brazil are completely different from those in Germany or India,” he explained.

The solutions presented during the media event in Schaan included the new OptraGate Dry Control saliva ejector and the Adhese 2 universal adhesive, which combines light- and dual-curing capabilities. Martin Frontull, chief marketing officer of Ivoclar, emphasised the central importance of materials: “Materials will always remain at the core of everything we do. Quality has always been at the heart of what we do—a commitment that goes back to our very beginnings.”
According to Frontull, manufacturing technologies such as milling and 3D printing increasingly require high-tech equipment. Digitalisation and the corresponding software are no longer a competitive advantage but a prerequisite for integrated solutions. He added: “Our customers work in dentistry, dental technology and dental hygiene. In a world where everything is converging, this is a major advantage, as it allows us to offer the entire range of innovative solutions tailored to individual requirements. What matters most is meeting our customers’ needs: the challenges they face, the applications they require and how we can support them even more effectively.”
