HELSINKI, Finland: The pace of evolution of the dental industry is continuously gaining speed. With completely new demands being placed on practitioners, the need for modern equipment that help achieve the best possible results is increasing. The new Planmeca Compact i5 dental unit has been designed to assist in this pursuit of positive outcomes. Guaranteed by Planmeca to have a long lifespan, the unit has been developed in such a way that it can be upgraded with new features at any time, making it a future-proof investment.

Manufactured around five central themes—design, wellbeing, cleanliness, intelligence and evolution—the Compact i5 has been built to not only withstand the test of time, but to also evolve with it. From smooth delivery arm movements to an intuitive touch panel, the unit boasts communication ability in 25 different languages and can seamlessly be integrated into almost any dental practice.

The unit’s floating chair has a narrowing backrest and a small cuspidor base, allowing convenient access to the treatment area, while the balanced instrument arms guarantee an ergonomic use of its instruments. In addition to the foldable leg rest that allows the patient to easily enter and exit the chair, the custom-moulded upholstery ensures that an enjoyable patient experience is guaranteed.

As much as comfort is an essential factor when it comes to selecting a dental unit, more importantly is infection control. With the Compact i5, all the essential infection control functions are integrated and effectively organised into their own compartments. The cleaning procedures are also automated, with the LED indicator on the dental unit informing the user of their status.

With seamless connection to digital equipment being an absolute prerequisite, as is with all Planmeca’s digital equipment, the Compact i5 can easily be connected to a network to produce valuable data. With the support of Planmeca’s software solutions, clinics can track and follow their patient flow, optimise their capacity through real-time information and monitor the use of their equipment. Additionally, the dental unit’s smart sign-in system allows fast access to personalised dental unit settings with the flash of a card.

Speaking to Dental Tribune International, Planmeca's Vice President Jukka Kanerva said, “Our Planmeca Compact dental unit range has over 50,000 users around the world. They have provided us with invaluable feedback, which has been our basis when creating the Planmeca Compact i5 dental unit. The result is a perfect combination of performance, durability, comfort, safety, and distinctive aesthetics.”
