LISBON, Portugal: In May and October, the Implantology Institute will host the “Caramês full-arch clinical experiences—from simple to complex” course. Led by Prof. João Caramês, who is a globally well-established clinician and researcher in implantology and oral surgery, this two-day programme offers dental professionals an in-depth understanding of immediate loading treatments for edentulous patients. Participants will explore and practice Straumann Pro Arch protocols, enhanced by cutting-edge digital solutions.

The rehabilitation of edentulous jaws with immediately loaded implants is a highly predictable treatment option that continues to revolutionise modern implantology. This course, based on Prof. Caramês’ patient-specific protocols and extensive clinical experience, will provide dental professionals with practical strategies to address individual patient needs and expectations while considering clinical and financial factors.

Attendees will delve into key elements of treatment planning, including patient selection, implant distribution, implant type, restoration design and soft-tissue management. With a focus on integrating analogue and digital workflows, the course will equip participants to deliver optimal outcomes.

Comprehensive curriculum and hands-on experience

The course offers a blend of theoretical instruction, hands-on practice and live surgery demonstrations. Guided by Prof. Caramês and his expert team, participants will gain practical skills and deep insights into full-arch rehabilitation.

Key topics to be covered include:

  • patient selection and treatment planning, transitioning from analogue to digital workflows;
  • the systematic approach developed by Prof. Caramês to anatomical classification of full-arch rehabilitation;
  • prosthetic protocols for management of cases from provisional to final restorations; and
  • maintenance protocols and patient management towards long-term success for edentulous patients.

A live surgery session, featuring a full-arch rehabilitation case treated with immediately loaded implants, will offer participants an opportunity to see the course’s theoretical concepts in action. Hands-on training will further reinforce the techniques learned, enabling participants to apply their knowledge in a supervised guided setting.
